Getting a job is exciting and relaxing, it is a whole new experience alongside a load of new responsibilities. Hiring for a post also encourages the employer. Hiring a candidate to the organization or company can increase the job, but hiring the right person for the job is the most challenging thing. In today’s world there are many fraud people, people with duplicate identities are roaming around. Choosing the right person among them can be so hectic. But to provide the good service one must choose the right one for the company or organization.

If an employer is from any of the specialized sectors such as school, foster home, or provide services to adults who need personal care, they must have known about the dbs check. It is the process where an employee gets criminally checked. In terms of getting into the job where special care is needed one must have a clear record. In March of 2002, a Criminal Record Bureau check was introduced to allow employers if the potential candidate has any criminal record, which can be harmful for the post. And which will also give an assurance to the other staff, organization and the people they are going to work with. Then in 2012, a barring part was introduced to the CRB check. And it created a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

There are other equivalent agencies like this in Ireland, but this is the foremost of all. The process through which the DBS provide the criminal record data is actually called the DBS certificate. There are 4 kinds of checking which can be done. They are:

  • Basic dbs checking with certificate- this is the first level of checking. It details in any warnings, unspent convictions, cautions etc. This process discloses any kind of cautions, reprimands, warnings, and conviction that are reckoned to be unexhausted in accordance to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An employer can apply for the data online too... If the data is searched for by an employer and is already in the reference as checked before, then the employer gets the data easily as mentioned in the act.

  • Standard dbs checking with certificate- in standard check it involves all the basic check details along with that detail of spent convictions, warnings are also included. This process is mainly dedicated for the greater responsibility jobs such as accountancy and security. The checking process also provides data if any candidate has any cautions, reprimands, warnings, and conviction on their name that cannot be filtered.

  • Enhanced dbs checking with certificate- it is the further level of DBS check. It aims towards the safeguarding issue. It includes all the details from standard checks and any details that police might think to be relevant to the role. This certification process is dedicated to more service- oriented fields like teaching children, treating adults and some legal jobs like lawyers and other judicial appointments.

  • Enhanced checking with a barred list- this is a more detailed checking process. Police have a list of the people who are barred from certain roles for various reasons. This final level includes all the previous checking with the barred list from police. Only the police will confirm if the person is suitable for the job or not, with providing the certain certificate.
